Use it with your AI agent

keychord ships an agent skill: skills/keychord/SKILL.md. With it installed, you can ask your coding agent “make me a chord for my address” or “import my Espanso snippets”, and it uses the keychord CLI to do it safely: it appends without touching your lines, checks the config after every change, and never writes a secret value into the file.

Get the skills/keychord folder from the keychord repository (or the release, if it’s included there), then copy it into your agent’s skills folder:

Terminal window
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -R skills/keychord ~/.claude/skills/

Start a new Claude Code session; the skill loads when you ask about chords or snippets.

The agent needs the keychord command on its PATH. Check with keychord check --json in the same terminal.

  • “Add a chord sig with my name and today’s date, formatted.”
  • “Make a login chord for the staging site; the password should come from the vault.”
  • “Turn this CSV into a pack called support.”
  • “What does super+lg do?”
  • “Import my Espanso base.yml.”
